Let’s be passionate

passionate-about-your-work

I hear a lot about passion these days.  People ask one another, what’s his/her passion?  People want to be passionate about their work.  What if you are only “passionate” about screwing off?  I have a lingering suspicion that all this stuff about “finding your passion” is yet another attempt by the IWM (International Work Machine) to co-opt our energies into meeting its needs.  Work, work work …it’s what you LOVE!

Whoaaa!!! Slight miscommunication here! I am a parent, of a young woman close to your age.

Good luck in your pursuit of idleness. Perhaps you’ll be more successful than I was.

  2. Lol. Don’t worry I was not making the assumption seriously, just for the sake of the joke :p

I fully support your position on this one, the Puritans did a real number on us. The IWW has a great song “Halleluja I’m a bum” which really draws the ire of our 60 hr a week brethren.

I’ve seen that RealClimate post. It all depends on how you calculate the trend. If you just look at recent data, it’s pretty flat. If you interpolate over thirty years, you can get a different answer, but that’s rather begging the question of whether recent data is flat. Of course, if you are already convinced the trend is long-term, that’s what you’ll do.

Mediterraneans don’t have these problems. They can be shamelessly lazy and passionate at the same time.
